With the downfall of Fire Lord Ozai and his daughter, Princess Azula, the world is finally at peace. The Avatar continues his journey to restore complete balance to the nations, while his friends go slightly different directions. Katara, with her father being the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe, becomes a young Senator, living in Ba Sing Se full time to be near the newly formed Four Nation Government (named so in memory of the Air Nomads). Sokka continues to travel and learn the ways of his sword (which was found by Katara when they visited a beach!). Toph didn't return to her home; she kept traveling, met other Earthbenders, and even learned more about her metalbending. And as for Prince Zuko - well, Fire Lord Zuko - he remains in the Fire Nation and visits his Uncle weekly at his Ba Sing Se Tea Shop.
But something is brewing on the horizon. A rebellion has started in the badlands of the Fire Nation. Although Azula is in prison, it seems she is the likely culprit to the start of such a thing. Yet with a visit from both Katara and Zuko, the two realize that Azula couldn't possibly be behind the rebellion - only Zuko visited her to get information out of her.
And Ozai is in a solitary confinement cell hidden deep within the capital. Only Zuko and Katara have seen him since his imprisonment. It starts to become a mystery as to who the true leader of this rebellion is. With Katara now living in the Fire Nation to try and solve this mystery, the rebellion has now started to attack her, leaving even a powerful Waterbender without protection! Aang and his friends soon rush to Katara's aide, and quickly become involved themselves, along with the aide of newfound friends.
The rebellion will soon envelop all of the other nations - peace will be disrupted; families torn apart once more. And a new mission for those who want peace.
