Through her fright of the wild penguin slide, Bala heard a frantic plea for help. Lifting her head, she looked at the cave and was surprised to see a group of men and one girl standing near the entrance. The girl was clearly the captive, and anger welled in Bala when a man struck her across the face. When the penguin was mere feet from the cave, Bala took a deep breath, then released her hold on the creature. She rolled through the snow multiple times, the cold fluff feeling more like a thousand icy needles scratching her face. Coming to a dizzying stop, Bala rushed to her feet and ran towards the cave, only to find that the waterbender was already there. Running into the cave, around the rough men, she made it to the girl. "Are you ok?" she asked, her voice hurried. Movemenet near the back of the cave came to her attention, and she looked up in time to see a man rushing towards them. Bracing herself, she stomped down a foot, sending up a clump of stone, then punched outwards. The stone struck the man in the chest, knocking him on his back. Before he could get up, Bala stomped a foot again. Stone manacles rose around his ankles and wrists, securing him to the ground.

Kiya backed away from the men as some others came in and started fighting them away from her. Jack stood up, a little sore and dizzy from his wild sledding trip, and waddled to her. She hugged the penguin tightly and picked him up. "Just get me out of here!" she said, skirting around the men, most of whom here trapped somehow. One of them caught her eye, glaring at her. "Just you wait, little girl. You haven't escaped from us yet. We have friends everywhere." Kiya glanced at her rescuers. "So, apparently, do I."

Ash finally made it to the cave and was surprised to see that the waterbender wasn't harming Bala, but some men. He heard a cry for help and saw Bala use her earthbending to save her. Following Bala's lead, Ash rushed into the cave and at one of the men who was planning on sneaking up on the bender with a throwing dagger. Launching himself, he dove in front of the dagger and caught it with his right hand. Smirking, for the tip of the blade was now in between his gloved fingers. Spinning around sharply, Ash threw back the dagger to its owner, but with a new flaming improvement.
"AGH!" The man yelled and ducked as the flamed dagger struck into the rocky wall and above the guy's head. Ash smiled a little at the man's reaction and then began throwing punches at some of the men who began coming after him. Controlling his anger, Ash relied mostly on himself rather than his bending as he kicked and jabbed. Some of the men were surprised when their fists met a hard object against Ash's right arm. Going into a spinning kick, Ash smashed his metal leg into one of the guy's abdomen, with a small blue flame streak following after it.
Triumphant, Ash looked over his knocked out opponents, but couldn't help but wonder about the blue flame...he had never been able to do that before...and knew...it could mean its firebending was advancing. He didn't have time to think about it more as he heard someone yell out a threat. Turning around, he spotted most of the men being cornered by Bala's earthbending caged them. "Well, why don't you introduce us to your friends. I would really like to get to know them too!" He growled out, realizing that this girl was being held captive. His left fist flared up briefly so that his glove wouldn't burst into flames. "Who do you work for and why have you held her captive?" He asked in an angry tone as he glanced over at the girl...and the penguin!

Thisha's face was screwed up in concetration as she maoved the ice. She made a cylender of ice and trapped the men inside. there were some small holes in the top for air. She slumped to the floor. Her breath came in gasps. That was some hard bending. Moving ice under wtuggling ocupants, and then shooting it so that they were trapped.

Kiya watched the others work on over powering her captors, just sitting back and cuddling Jack. She stared at the man who had saved her. He was a firebender! Maybe he could help her get home. She felt sad, because she knew it was too late to attend her father's funeral. But perhaps she could get back in time to claim her inheritance before the search for her was given up. From behind the wall of ice the waterbender erected, the leader of the kidnappers scowled at the firebender. "What's it to you?" he spat, "She's nothing, just a payment." Kiya nearly growled at him. "Then why were you so desparate to keep me here?" she asked angrily, "If I really am no one, why not let me go?" She was near tears, all the anger, terror, and sorrow of the past few days breaking through. "You kill my father and kidnap me and give no reason...why? Who wanted my father dead?" "Who didn't?" the man snapped back, "Either he told you absolutly nothing about real life, or you're more stupid than all the other girls in the Fire Nation." Kiya was struck by this, shocked, confused, and still angry and sad. She sank against the wall, and Jack settled against her, sensing her emotional rampage and trying to calm her.

"She is a person!" Ash retorted, his hands flaring up more. "Enough!" Ash's voice echoed harshly at the man. "As a soldier and ambassador for Fire Lord Zuko, I hereby arrest you and your conspirators for crimes against His citizens!" He pointed a flamed finger at the man. "You will not show any resistance and will face your crimes before our Lord and Leader!" He then snarled and gave a dire warning. "Cooperate or face my retribution, the choice is yours." He snapped, trying to control his anger.

Kiya heard what the firebender was saying, and felt relief pour through her. He was one of Fire Lord Zuko's soldiers. She knew he would help her. She still sat cuddling Jack. "While you're at it, charge him and the rest of them with the murder of one of the Fire Lord's most noble leaders," she said glaringly, "My father, Zurgo Andros, was killed by these men only days ago, at the same time they kidnapped me."

Once Bala was sure all the conscious men were unable to attack, blocked by both ice and stone, she moved over to the waterbender. As she knelt next to the woman, Bala listened closely to Ash's fierce exchange with the kidnappers, and the words of the victim. Reaching out, Bala laid a tentative hand on the waterbender's shoulder. "Are you allright?" she asked quietly so as not to interrupt the more important conversation Ash was leading. "Creating ice from water must be no easy task."

Ash growled out some curses, attempting to control his anger. They attacked a citizen of the Fire Nation...one of Fire Lord Zuko's advisories...and kidnapped his daughter...this is...this is... He couldn't contain it any longer. "How dare you!" He shouted and shot out a spiral of flames at the man. Thankfully, Ash aimed for the area next to the main man's head. A sizzling scorch mark was steaming right next to it. Ash sighed, grateful that he didn't lose complete control. "You will be taken into custody immediately and questioned." He told the man as he went over to the once-captive. "I think you've been far from home long enough. My convoy is at the Southern Water Tribe." He offered his right hand to help her up.
*** "No, it isn't an easy task." Raiki's voice echoed through the cave. His arms were folded as he leaned against the cave entrance. He had come to this area after receiving some information that some mysterious group was hiding out here. He had left the desert happily when he received the information, grateful to be around the cold and water that he was so familiar with. He was at the Southern tribe when he noticed the blond firebender wander off to play with the penguins. He didn't think anything of it until he heard screams. A group, which included him, came over to investigate. "If you do not mind, Firebender, but I would like to question the men also. I understand you have priority for they have kidnapped and murdered a Fire Nation citizen, but there are some pressing matters I would like to inquire with the man." He glanced his one eye over to Ash.
Ash straightened, unnerved at the man's piercing eye. "Uh..sure...just as long as I am there." Ash noticed the mask man's jaw tighten for a moment, and then release. "Very well." He shrugged and glanced over to the group he came over with. "Let's get these guys bound." He told them and they moved forward to do so. Through the passing bodies, Raiki glanced over at the two females, noticing that one was wearing an Earth Kingdom robe. He wondered what an Earth Kingdom citizen was doing out here...unless she was with the expected convey from the Earth kingdom.

Instantly tense, Bala leapt to her feet and twirled to face the body of the voice. A masked man stood calmly near the cave wall, exuding confidence and power. When it became clear he was not hostile, Bala relaxed and stood straight, bowing her head. Focusing on the stone wrapped around one of the kidnappers ankels and wrists, Bala motioned and the earth flowed away from his limbs, freeing him. He was quickly bound and placed with the rest of his companions. Folding her hands behind her back, Bala stepped away from the masked man to give him some privacy. She looked at Ash quickly, wondering if he was any calmer. He had nearly incinerated one of the men's heads. Returning her gaze to the fore, she did not miss the masked man's gaze. Bala did not look away, but held her head high. She felt a sense of pride to be the only representative of the earth kingdom present in this inpromptu gathering of nations.

Kiya took her fellow Firebender's hand and stood, then watched as he turned to speak with the other man who had come in. It was starting to get crowded in the cave, and she didn't want to spend another minute in here. At the mention of home, her heart thrilled. Home, with it's grand rooms, it's lovely decorations, and a large fireplace in every room. Home, where her friends--those she had--would be waiting for her and greeting her. Home, where Daddy would...Kiya stopped her thoughts short. Daddy wouldn't be there for her anymore. She would have to figure something out on her own. She hadn't the slightest idea how to live on her own. She sighed as she stepped outside, Jack waddling beside her. It seemed to her she was about to start a much harder life than that she was used to. ~~~~~ Misora sat at home, cuddling a toy in her arms. Things seemed to have calmed down a little for now. A few days ago, it seemed everyone had been in a panic. All she really knew was that something bad had happened to one of her daddy's people and everyone had been looking some some girl. Misora had been confused at first and a little frightened by all the fuss. SHe knew everyone was still looking for the missing girl, but they didn't know where to look. Misora only hoped that the poor lady would be found and everyone would be home soon. She thought Korin was helping look for the lady. She missed him. She had no idea where Feru was. She missed him, too.

"They're assembled, Blue Dragon." one of the men told Raiki. Raiki nodded. "Let's take them back to the Tribe." He glanced sideways at Ash, wondering if that was all right. "Yes. That will be better - we can secure them easily that way." Ash agreed. "Let's go." Ash turned towards Bala and the waterbender. His previous carefree mood gone now as he enacted his military persona. Although, a part of him wished they were still penguin sledding. He sighed. So much for childhood. He thought to himself as he walked out of the cave, following the members as they marched the captives to the tribe.
Before leaving, Raiki noticed the demeanor of the Earth Kingdom citizen and wondered if she was of nobility. He had been there before and remembered that some of them carried themselves higher than others; the woman seemed to be have the same air about her. "Ladies." Raiki gestured for them to exit the cave.

Thisha didn't bother to stand up as the ice beneath her opened up. She fell through a tube that put her back where whe started. By the shore.

Kiya stared up at the darkening sky, shivering a little. It was so cold down here. She missed the warm air of the Fire Nation. And she missed her father...and her friends...and Korin. Where did that come from? she asked herself. She felt her cheeks turn bright red. Though the Fire Lord's eldest son was younger than she was, she couldn't deny how hansome he was. She had seen him from time to time when they were younger, though more recently Zuko had been sending him out on missions and she rarely saw him. She knew she didn't really have any sort of chance with him. Korin was a prince! What was she, except the daughter of a high-ranking Fire Nation official? She felt certain Korin would never choose her for anything. But she still hoped. At the moment, hope was all she had, really. Jack cuddled against her, and she picked up the penguin as they walked a bit farther.

Bowing to the masked man, Bala turned and made her way from the cave. She flinched only slightly when the woman beside her vanished through a tunnel in the ice. Once outside, Bala pulled the collar of her parka closer to her neck to guard against the frozen wind. A frown tilted down one corner of her mouth. She had been gone for more than ten minutes, and her father must surely be worried. As much as she wished to return to him and ease any anxiety, Bala also wanted to stay where she was, with this mingled group of cultures.
