Character's Name: Fire Lord Zuko
Character's Age: 36
Character's Attitude: In Zuko's childhood, he was a curious, gullible, and sensitive child. He was curious in the ways of life and went to extremes to find answers. Zuko's gullibility was also one of the reasons his younger sister, Azula, could manipulate and trick him so often. She would tell him lies or just tell him the truth in a manipulative way and he would believe her. In this way he was sensitive. She bragged to him about how she was better than him and how Father loved her more, and he knew that what she was telling was the truth. His sensitivity of his father's disgust with him pretty much overtook his whole being. This sensitivity only heightened when his mother was banished and he no longer had a parent that loved him.
After Zuko was banished, he grew conflicted inside beyond all bounds. He longed to forgive his father for banishing him and not loving him, but he couldn't hold back his anger from how his father treated him as a child and how his father had finally banished him. In ways he falsely told himself his father truly loved him and this was his way of curing Zuko's disobedience and the way he always seemed to embarrass his father, but Zuko knew inside that his father had never loved him. This anger was what fueled Zuko's firebending and it was also this sensitivity from his childhood that brought out the sweet side of Zuko.
When Zuko became Fire Lord, a sense of relief seemed to flood his emotions. He no longer was always tense, afraid, and angry. He felt content with how things were and thus, when he married Mai, he actually began to enjoy life. He is now still as reserved as he was throughout his teenage years, but he speaks with kindness when he does speak. His goal is to be the exact opposite of his father and not be hostile toward any of his children purposely. He loves his three children and his wife with all of his heart and he feels, for the first time in his life, calm and happy.

History: Zuko was the first born and only son to Fire Lord Ozai and Fire Lady Ursa. When Zuko was old enough to firebend, Ozai and Ursa soon learned that he was not to be a prodigy. He was okay at it, but not great and because of this, Ozai could not grow to love him the way he should have. Ursa babied Zuko and loved the boy with all her heart, seeing how sweet and wonderful he was. Unfortunately, Ozai's neglection of Zuko only grew when his sister, Azula, was born, but Zuko only looked upon his father in awe. He didn't see how his father treated him, he only saw how wondrous and magnificent Ozai was. In a way, he was blinded by love. His mother saw this and it only made her love Zuko more, how he could love someone who treated him so horribly. Throughout his childhood, Azula was a constant tormentor to Zuko and if she didn't get her way, she told Ozai and then she got her way. Zuko never could grow to love Azula and this confused him and also hurt him. In his mind he had always thought that in order to become a good Fire Lord, you had to open your heart to everyone around you and love them. Zuko thought he was a failure even at an early stage and could never get this off his mind. At the time when his mother was banished because of Ozai's foolishness in asking to be given the title of "Heir", Zuko felt even more hurt and confused than he ever had in his life.
When Zuko was 13, Iroh allowed him to sit in on a war council meeting. One of the councilmen was proposing his idea of putting the new recruits up in the front and despite Iroh constantly telling Zuko not to speak, he spoke. He pretty much said that what the man was proposing was evil and was like sacrificing the lives of men who sacrificed their own lives to fight for their country, which was morally wrong. The outburst infuriated Fire Lord Ozai and he demanded that his son take part in an Agni Kai. Zuko accepted whole-heartedly, thinking that it was the old councilman he was fighting against. When the time of the Agni Kai came around, instead of the old councilman coming out to fight Zuko, Ozai did. Zuko refused to fight him, but Ozai took that as a sign of disrespect on Zuko's part and told him so. He told him he needed to learn to respect and thus, gave Zuko his famous scar with a shot of fire. He stripped Zuko of his birthright and also the right to remain in the Fire Nation. He banished Zuko and told him that he had to capture the Avatar, who had disappeared 100 years before, before he would be welcomed back in Ozai's nation.
Zuko went off in search of the Avatar and it just so happened that that was only a couple years off from Aang and Appa emerging from the iceberg. Zuko and Team Avatar thus had many bouts and collisions as Zuko hunted them. Then, as him and Iroh severed their connection from the Fire Nation, Zuko went through a change of heart. He finally accepted that he could make his destiny what he wanted, not what anyone else wanted. Then, during another bout with Team Avatar as Ba Sing Se was under siege, he sided with Azula and turned on Aang, Katara, and Iroh. They returned to the Fire Nation as heroes for sieging Ba Sing Se and supposedly killing the Avatar. But as Zuko finally felt accepted into his family, he found out that it wasn't as nice as he felt it should be. After a few weeks being accepted back into his home, he left and joined Team Avatar to teach Aang how to firebend.
After Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai and Ozai was locked away, as well as Azula, Zuko was given his rightful heritage and became Fire Lord of the Fire Nation. He brought the nations of the world together and ended the war, beginning an era of love and peace. He married Mai and together they had their three children, Korin, Feru, and Misora. His family is what has brought him happiness and peace for the first time in his life and he loves them all with the heart his life has formed for him.
