History: "In his childhood, Aang lived at the Southern Air Temple, with a father figure in Monk Gyatso. While still a young boy, he unconsciously showed himself to be the Avatar when he chose the Avatar Relics to play with. Due to the signs of a possible war, Aang was told about his status as the Avatar at age 12, four years earlier than the usual. Aang felt burdened by his status, and came to spend more time practicing Airbending with the monks than playing with his friends, as he was used to. After learning that he'd be sent to the Eastern Air Temple in order to complete his airbending training away from Monk Gyatso, who other monks thought to be too soft on Aang, he attempted to run away on his flying bison, Appa. Shortly after running away, Aang and Appa were caught in a storm, crashing in the water and being swallowed by the waves. Aang saved himself and Appa unconsciously by entering the Avatar State, freezing the two in a block of ice. " - Avatar Wiki
100 years passed since Aang trapped himself in the iceberg. He is released from his imprisonment by Katara and Sokka and learns that the Fire Nation is trying to conquer the world, not to mention developing an instant crush on Katara. He immediately attracts the attention of Prince Zuko and defends the Southern Water Tribe from the Fire Nation. He soon embarks with Katara and Sokka to the Northern Water Tribe in order to find a Waterbending Master to teach him waterbending, avoiding and escaping from Prince Zuko and Princess Azula along the way. Aang is soon instructed by the previous Avatar's pet dragon Fang to seek Avatar Ruko's spirit on Crescent Island. Once there, Aang learns from his previous spirit that Fire Lord Ozai plans to use the upcoming comet as an unlimited energy source to bend all the nations under his will. He then informs Aang that he has until the end of summer to master all the elements.
Burdened by his Avatar duty, Aang and his companions journey across the world to find a Master to teach him the different elements. Aang learns waterbending from Master Pakku at the Northern Water Tribe. During his stay, the Water tribe is attacked by Admiral Zhao, and Aang goes to the Spirit World for guidance. During this state, Zuko kidnaps Aang's body, while Katara and friends try to get it back. Katara is successful, but not before Zhao kills the moon spirit. Determined not to fail the Water tribe, Aang merges with the Ocean Spirit in his avatar state and attacks the Fire Nation armada. After the battle, Aang leaves with Katara and Sokka in attempt to learn earthbending from King Bumi.
When Aang arrives at Omashu, he learns that the Fire Nation has taken over. Aang battles Azula and the Fire soldiers, but is unable to defeat the whole and leaves Omashu on Bumi's advice and counsel. Aang travels within the earth Kingdom, only to find Toph, a skilled blind earthbender. After some adventure, Toph joins the group and agrees to teach Aang earthbending. The group encounters a library where they learn more about the comet and a solar eclipse that would render all firebenders powerless. During this time, Appa is stolen from Aang, causing Aang to display hostility and aggression for the first time, even to a point where he was calling upon the avatar state. At this point, Katara was able to stop Aang by comforting him with a hug. Aang later reunites with Appa at Ba Sing Se, uncovers a conspiracy within it, and even informs the Earth King of the solar eclipse. Later, Aang is called upon by Guru Pathik to the Eastern Air Temple so he could teach him how to control the Avatar state. "While there, he struggles when he learns he has to let go of his feelings for Katara. He has a vision about her being in danger and returns to the city. He learns that Azula and her friends have infiltrated the city. After freeing Katara, they fight Zuko and Azula in the crystal catacombs. Things take a turn for the worse when the Dai Li, now under Azula's command arrive. Aang retreats and tries to use the Avatar State, but is lightning struck by Azula. Katara manages to help escape with him thanks to Iroh's help. The group leaves Ba Sing Se on Appa with the Earth King, and Katara uses a special water from the spirit oasis to heal Aang, who is now believed to be dead by the rest of the world" - Avatar Wiki.
"For several weeks, Aang was unconscious as he recovered from his injury. Mentally, he spent this time in the Spirit World, but upon his awakening Aang forgot this journey. Team Avatar reached the Fire Nation and prepared for the invasion, planned during the Day of Black Sun. In the meantime, he was threatened by an assassin Zuko sent after him, Combustion Man. On the day of the eclipse, Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Toph go looking for Fire Lord Ozai, but Azula distracted them long enough that they didn't find him. Afterwards, they went to the Western Air Temple, where Zuko appeared and wanted to join their group. Initially they rejected him, but when Zuko helped them defeat Combustion Man, Aang accepted him as his Firebending teacher. Zuko and Aang sought out the Sun Warriors to learn the original source of firebending, and eventually underwent a trial from the dragons that increased both Firebenders' abilities. Due to his belief in the sacredness of all life, Aang felt strong anxiety about the concept of killing Ozai. When he left for an island off the shore of Ember Island, he met the Lion Turtle, who taught him about Energybending. Armed with this knowledge, Aang went on to defeat the Fire Lord by taking away his Firebending. He vowed at Fire Lord Zuko's coronation to help him restore peace to the world. After Zuko's coronation, he is seen in Ba Sing Se with his friends, where he and Katara begin what is likely a romantic relationship with a passionate kiss. "
After the war ended, Aang went about the nations trying to rebuild and help them wherever he can. He even reestablished the Air Nomads after some emerged from hiding after the War. For years, peace filled the land, however, among his various adventures, Aang is beginning to learn of rumors that would disrupt the peace that he helped build.
