Character's Name: Ash Zhao
Character's Age: 17
Character's Attitude: Temperamental, stubborn, and determined. He can be playful just as he can be vicious. He's really nice and compassionate when you get to know him, and always seems to quietly show it when ever he meets someone less fortunate. He's loyal and understanding, but his temper can get the best of him, like any firebender.
Character's Race: Human
Character's Appearance: He's blond, 5'8, and has hazel/golden eyes. He wears a black sleeveless outfit that's lined by silver and a red cloak with the fire nation's emblem on the back. His right arm and left leg were amputated when he was young and thus was fitted by mechanical replacements; he has full function over them, just like they were his real arm and leg. He cloak and pants cover up the metal and he wears black gloves, so not many know about his arm and leg.
Character's Allegiance: Fire Nation, Aang
Weapons: His metal arm and leg and fire bending. Skilled in the martial arts that is required for the military.
Character's Bending Ability: Firebending - Advanced; he can almost redirect lightening and fly.
Other Info: When the fire Nation was attacked during the war, Ash's arm and leg were burned off during the great battle when he was 2 (I'm assuming we are going from 15 years after the Aang defeated the Fire Nation lord?) When he was 5, he underwent surgery by his father who was a blacksmith and doctor. The surgery was extensive and he nearly died, but after 3 years of physical therapy he has full function.
History: Born in the Fire Nation. Ash was was naturally seen to be gifted in firebending, however, during the war, his family was caught in a cross fire battle between earthbenders and firebenders. He ended up having his arm and leg burned off. Mocked and laughed at for being a cripple, Ash was diligent and patient as he studied under his father in the art of firebending. It was extremely difficult for firebending required balance and control, but without his leg and arm, it was much harder, however, he was still able to master the basics.
When he was five, his father tried a new surgery technique that allowed amputees to use metal as replacements for loss bodies. With the mixture of firebending, medicine, and metal, his father was able to attach the metal arm and leg to the nerves and muscles of Ash's arm and leg. It was a painful and excruciating experience because he was not allowed to have any herbal sedatives. He nearly died from the pain alone, but with his father's encouragement, he was able to survive. When he was 8, he was able to use his metal arm and leg completely and was able to use firebending to its capacity. As a sturdy and diligent student, Ash improved his firebending skills and was soon asked to be apart of the military.
He now serves for the Fire Nation, hoping to maintain the peace in all the nations.
Role-Play Sample:
Ash's chest heaved for air as he laid on in the dirt. His right cloak arm sleeve was burnt to a crisp, revealing the metal arm that laid beneath it. Grunting up, Ash moved his fingers into a fist and then out, trying to see if they were still functioning.
"Darn it!" He cursed at himself. "I almost had it this time."
"You lack concentration." He turned to see his father behind him, a thin frown was there under his thin mustache.
"Its difficult to get the lightning in place...I think its my arm..."
"Do not blame your arm, if anything, it acts more as a conductor....it should help you more, not inhibit you." His father stated.
"Tsk." Ash growled out as he got up from the floor.
"Now, look what you did to your cloak...you're lucky your arm is metal, or it would be burned to a crisp right now..."
"I'm sorry, Father." Ash replied, looking at his arm and shredded cloak.
"Don't be sorry. Be more careful. Concentrate!"
Ash gave his father a determined nod and then outstretched his arm to the clouded skies. "Aghh..." He planted his feet firmly onto the earth and concentrated.
Lightening streaked across the sky to where he was and circulated into his arm, holding it there, he concentrated.
His father watched with hidden awe and pride as his son grew closer and closer to mastering the art of firebending.
"Aghh..." Ash cried out in concentration as the lightening snaked along his arm. "No!" Ash felt the lightening waver away from where he was trying to direct. It struck a nearby tree.
Falling from the recoil, Ash landed back into the dirt.
"Tsk." He snarled out as he could still fill the electricity burning through his arm.
"Again." He heard his father say and again he rose from the ground.
