Kiya stood at the door of the huge house. Her home. How long had it been since she was taken from here? It seemed like forever, but it had only been somewhere around a week or two. She hesitated. Home would never feel the same, not without Daddy. But she would have to get by...somehow. She was a firebender...maybe she could find someone who could train her. Then she could take her father's place among Fire Lord Zuko's officials. It would take a while, but she could do it. She opened the door. Everything was in it's old places, including her two Sais and her bow and arrows. "Well, Jack," she said to the penguin at her side, "it's not the south pole, but maybe it can be home for you." She sat on her old bed, staring off into space, trying to keep from thinking about the sad truth: she was alone in the world now.

Korin was practicing his firebending on the training grounds. His mind was like a human oven, heated up from the fire inside of him but focused on one task. To burn that dummy's head off without making burn marks all over it. He wanted a clean cut. His eye twitched as his mind wandered. He mentally beat himself over the head, then focused all his chi on coming out of his right foot with a steady stream of fire. He controlled his breathing, snorting out small streams of jet fire out of his nose.
Suddenly taking a leap, Korin let loose a savage war cry. "WAAH!" He twirled in a 360 degree angle before his right foot raised above his left foot, then gave a little kick, directing a steady stream of fire towards the dummy's head. The challenge wasn't the jump, the shooting of the fire, or hitting the aim. The challenge was making the lower part of his jet of fire hotter, making it blue. This way, the fire would quickly burn the head off fast enough to not let there be scorch marks. As the plush head thumped to the ground, Korin lightly landed on the balls of his feet, adrenaline and fire pumping through his veins like blood. Walking over to the body of the dummy, a smile stretched across his face with satisfaction. There was no evidence of the head except it laying by Korin's feet. He kicked it into the air, then shot a burst of red fire at it, burning it into ashes.
A slight noise unraveled Korin's focus. Listening intently, he heard it again, coming from over the wall. Korin's face heated up. Kiya's house. Images of her filled his mind. Her blonde hair flowing in the wind, the black streak standing out like a pretty rose in the midst of dandelions. His heart skipped a beat as he walked over to their pond, dousing his face with water to restore its usual color, then scaled the stone wall setting his house apart from Kiya's. Crouching on the top of it, he waited to see if he could hear another sound.

Kiya sat still for a while, not knowing what to do. Most people knew she had been found and was home now, but she hadn't gone to see anyone. She got up and stared out the window. It was a beautiful day in the Fire Nation. The air was warm and held the faint scent of smoke. She had missed it while she was captive at the south pole. She happened to glance up, and the instant she did, her heart started racing. Korin was standing on the wall that seperated their houses. His hansome face was practically glowing in the sunlight. She glanced around elsewhere to make sure no one else was watching her, then settled her gaze on the prince. She was certain she had no chance with him. Surely there were prettier girls to catch the eye of the Fire Lord's son. But Kiya could still stare and daydream. She imagined Korin holding her close, stroking her hair, kissing her...

OOC: what? Imagining a guy doing stuff like that comes naturally when you have a crush on him. What you have to learn is that it rarely happens. Gets a little frustrating sometimes. lol.

Out of the corner of his eye Korin saw a figure approach a window. He turned his head in the direction of the window, his eyes widening. "Kiya!" Seeing her in person was so much better than picturing her in his head. He stood up and ran down the wall towards the window, then jumped down when he was right in front of where she was. He walked over to where she was leaning on the window sill and leaned in from the other side. They were inches apart.

occ: Firestar I didn't mean the act itself was creepy just making your characters think it. Kind of weird never seen it before. Normally cause all my characters want to burn and kill.

"Am I interrupting anything?" Feru asked politely as he appeared on the wall. "I thought I heard the guards say that Kiya has returned. I came to invite her over for dinner." He gave a simple smile. He had watched Korin watch Kiya and thought it would be amusing to torment the two for a bit. He scaled the wall with ease and was now seated calmly, as his feet hung over it. "I hear we are having roasted duck tonight. Kiya? Would you like to come over?" He hid his snicker as he had seemingly interrupted an intimate moment. He gave Kiya his charming smile.

OOC: oh...gosh...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This is just too funny!
Kiya backed away slightly when Korin jumped right in front of her. He startled her, and now their faces were meer inches apart. "Prince Korin...hi," she said, just a little lamely. Seeing him so close set her heart racing again, even faster than before. She couldn't say anything else before his brother, Feru, appeared seemingly out of nowhere. But in that short time, she gained her confidance again. "Hello, Prince Feru," she said, giving them both a pleasant smile. She was a little surprised by his offer. "Why thank you...I'll be there." She looked back at Korin.

Korin smiled at Kiya, then frowned when he heard his brother's voice. He glanced irritatedly at him, then looked back at Kiya. In his most respectfully sweet tone, he said, "Shall I escort you, Kiya?" He could feel Feru's snickers before they even came.

Kiya gave a nervous laugh, glancing at Feru for a moment before looking back at Korin with a sweet smile. "I would be honored, Prince Korin," she said. She heard a squeek by her leg and felt Jack lean against her. She picked the penguin up and showed him to the princes. "Have either of you ever seen a penguin before?" she asked.

Prince Feru bit his tongue from laughing out loud at his brother and his crush. This is going to be fun tonight. He smiled at Kiya and Korin, but was actually smiling about his plan tonight. Feru's attention then went to the little squishy creature at Kiya's feet. Immediate distaste came from his mind, but he hid it well as he titled his head to look at the creature closely. "No. I have never traveled to the water tribes before, so I never seen one. What does it do?" Feru asked.

Kiya smiled at her pet, hugging him close. "Mostly he sits around an looks adorable," she told Feru, "though he actually helped me escape from my...kidnappers." She shuddered a little and looked away, trying to block out her horrific memories of her captivity. "People also tend to use them to slide down mountains, but they don't usually enjoy that sort of thing."

Korin, fascinated, reached out to touch the penguin, then stopped when he was about an inch away. Thinking it would be appropriate, he looked up into her face. "May I?"

"Interesting. I wonder what they taste like?" Feru added absentmindedly. He shrugged at his own question and then excused himself. "See you later, Kiya." He waved behind him as he jumped down the wall and into the garden. He had some planning to do tonight. He smiled pleasantly to himself as he walked into the house.
